News and stories about the H5N1 Avian Flu and the fear of an H5N1 pandemic have become ubiquitous in recent months.  Cable news channels have aired hour-long specials about Avian Flu, many primetime TV dramas have enacted episodes based on fictional bird-flu infection scares, talk radio and blogs have provided virtually countless words of coverage, and there has even been a made-for-TV movie depicting a horrific worst-case-scenario.

Dr. Siegel has been a consistent voice of reason and science regarding all forms of influenza.  He has been a strong advocate for many years for the modernization of flu vaccine production and for strengthening international monitoring and containment systems.  Regarding H5N1 Dr. Siegel has urged for scientific, rather than fear-based, action to combat this virus which is dangerous in birds, and which can potentially mutate into a human-to-human disease.

Among Dr. Siegel's many articles and media appearances on the subject of the flu, we've provided a few on the links on this page.  For a comprehensive study of the subject, we recommend clicking here for Dr. Siegel's 2006 book "Bird Flu: Everything you need to know about the next Pandemic."
